My ex-husband has custody of our son, who is a minor, and lives in Germany. My ex is not cooperating about getting the medical exam for my son, and is refusing point blank to have it done. My son will be visiting me in the US this summer, and I hope to get him examined while he is here. Does anyone know if both parent's signatures are required for this?

A related question: I hope to have my paperwork done by May, and my son won't be visiting until July. Do you think it would be okay for me to submit my paperwork, with a note that the medical exam for my son will be submitted shortly?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Usually when a kid travel with only 1 of the parents they need an authorization from the parent that is staying behind to let the Kid out of the country (At lest here in Canada) usually this documents says that the parent that will be with the kid will have the full consent from the other parent (I believe that will be your husband) to any medical treatment or legal action if necessary....so this being said make sure you have a similar document saying that and once your kid is in the states go for it and get the medicals done. I don`t think you need your husband signature to get`em done. My sister is in a similar position but is her husband ex-wife that is not allowing his kid to get the medicals done.....

Good luck

From the little experience that i have, if you can submit all your paper work at the same time, it makes your file neater and easier and, maybe, faster to start processing. So you may want to wait till you get your son's medicals and paper work and send everything at the same time with yours.
