Hello All,

I have received my ITA on 1 May under CEC with 455 Points. I request the experts in the forum to guide me on the below queries.

1. I have my birthday in June due to which I will have a reduction of 5 points.

a) If I submit my file before my birthday which is on the first-week of June, will my point still reduce?

b) Will the point freeze if I submit my profile and pay the fee?

2. Due to COVID 19, I and my spouse are under temporary layoff availing CERB and are expecting to resume work by the end of May or June first week.

a) Should our employment letters include an end date as we are under a temporary layoff or should we show it as ongoing employment while availing CERB?

b) Should we mention it as ongoing employment?

c) If I show it as ongoing employment for both of us, I would be adding 5 additional points as my wife would be completing her 1year of Canadian experience.

Your valuable feedback and suggestions would be of great help, thanks in advance.

Your age was locked when you received ITA. It doesn't matter when you submit your application.

@scylla: Thank you for your reply. I have not submitted my application yet, as I am still waiting for my police clearance. I was previewing my score through the CIC login and for some reason I find my scores drop by 28 Points.

05 Points - Age (As I had my birthday on June 8, this is understandable)
11 Points - Canadian Work Experience
12 Points - Education

Can you share your views as to what might have gone wrong for me, as I do not want to have a rejection against my application.

It's really not possible to say without knowing the details of your application for Education and Canadian Work Experience.

I have a Bachelor's degree from India, 2+ years of Candian Exp, and 5+ years of Foreign Exp.

I was on temporary layoff from 31 March until 01 June and rejoined the same job in the first week of June

@scylla I think there was a glitch in the system calculating the points. Now I see that I have 5 points reduced due to age. My CRS was 455 when I got my ITA and now it's 450 due to my age.

Do you think I can go ahead and submit my application?
