CIC has updated their immigration statistics for 2017 and it now reflects the whole year. Initially their 2017 immigration target for QSW permanent residents was set to 29,300 and the highest target 30,200. Their statistics and results table show that 30,255 people landed in 2017 and QSW permanent residents, yet their total immigration target wasn't met as it stands at 286,615 instead of 300,000 or more. This is because their quotas for some categories like EE, PNP, Atlantic program and PNGP programs were not met . About 50,000 more applications for PR were received in 2017 as compared to 2016, however over 10,000 more PR visas were issued in 2017 as compared to 2016. So the back log for most files is somewhere around the last quarter of 2016.. I dont know how many QSW PR visas were issued but what i know is that they are not just sleeping on the QSW files, well atleast for most of them ..

Wow thanks for info and some one told me that post PR first medical card is valid only for a year (even my current med card based on my WP is issued for more than that :mad:)
Yes, your right, Even though i have CoPR, the RAMQ agent informed me that the 1st medical card after PR is valid only for 1 year, after that i have to come again for renewal, Agent told me that i should stay in Quebec for 6 months with in this 1 year to be eligible for renewal, otherwise i have to reapply and wait for another 90 days for new medical card.

My previous medical card was expired 47 days ago on the day when i went to RAMQ office, agent told me that i have to wait for 90 days to get new medical card , since i have crossed the 45 days period threshold for renewal, just 2 days passed, otherwise i might have got the renewed medical card with in 7 days.

They are counting the 45 days from the day of work permit expiry, and not the medical card expiry. Because medical card is valid for the entire month, even though your WP is expired in the mid of the month.

Thanks for updating. But I was reviewing the files and I was a little bit confused. All Total Economic programs target was set to 29,300, not QSWP. If you check numbers in the spreadsheet "Canada - Admissions of Permanent Residents by Province/Territory of Intended Destination and Immigration Category, January 2015 - December 2017" It clearly shows that they issued (-1000) applicants less in 2017 when compared to 2016. those 1000 were from the QSWP (our stream). so yes you were right there is a backlog in the last quarter of 2016 applications but there is also less number of approved applications.
total QSWP,2017 (24,855) VS 2016(25,860)
total Quebec 2017(52,395) VS 2016(53,240
Total Canada 2017 (286,615) VS 2016 (296,380) target was 300,000 :D

Yes you are right. The target for Quebec Economic Class which consist of skilled workers and business class was 29 300 and 31 200 for high target. They did not specify how many they will take im each class but just generalized the quebec skilled workers and business class as quebec economic immigration. And we can all see that the target was reached. Note that the spreed sheets shows the number or landed immigrats per category and province. There is another sheet which shoes number of PR visas issued but does not show the category and from that sheet we can conclude or see that more PR visas were issued in 2017 than 2016. Again it does not indicate for which category the visas were issued.

I applied for my PR on 22nd Dec, 2016 and then in April me and my wife took our medical. After that, my wife got another medical request which she took 2 weeks back (although, she passed the first one). The status got updated 2 days back as Passed again after the second medical.

Its going to be almost 14 months of our process on 22nd Feb, i am wondering if anyone had such a similar situation and got PPR already?

Hi All,
I wanted to share my timeline hoping it helps somebody.
My case took longer than normal, maybe because the schedule A in the original application was incomplete and I had to send a complete one later. Some information was taken from my GCMS notes.
