I have a bit of a dilemma. I've received an ITA and am putting together my express entry application to submit, with the intention of moving to Ontario. My husband and I are interested in the possibility of moving to either Ottawa or Montreal -- depending on where I can get a post doctoral fellowship. If I submit the application this month, I presume I will receive a response by October this year. However, funding applications for post docs are due in SEPTEMBER, so at that stage I may be submitting an application to do a post doc with a professor in Montreal. But I won't know until several months later whether or not I've been successful.

It's very complicated!! Will there be an issue of misrepresentation on my application if we move in January (to Ontario) and I've already submitted a post doc application for a university in Montreal? (Which I won't receive the results for until probably April)

They are going to be able to see your application to Montreal.

Don't risk it. Delay your studies for a year and move after. Your domestic tuition fees will be much cheaper after pr anyway.

What she said! ˆˆˆˆ

Unless you have something that ties you to Ontario (such as work or family) that you can claim you'll go back to as soon as you finish your studies, in which case be open and explain everything in a LoE.

I forgot to mention - we have good friends who live in Ottawa, so the plan is that when we arrive we'll be staying with them for a while until we find our own place.

Quebec is not included in EE and if you are an EE candidate you have to declare that you wont live / work, etc in Quebec. CIC makes the ultimate decision and they will have your details. This can jeopardise your future in Canada. I'd suggest you avoid Quebec until you land or you avoid EE and opt for Quebec. EE is too good to avoid IMO.

Unless you can convincingly show in a LoE that your time in Quebec will be temporary I would do as kryt0n says or opt for the Quebec route of immigration.

Thanks for the advice. Having a think, I can probably stand to wait until September 2018 to apply for post doc funding, rather than applying for this before we move to Ottawa.
