Hello Everyone!

I need urgent help to this:

I would be landing next week and want to know if I can bring the landing funds for myself in the form of Pre-Paid Credit Card of an Indian Bank? The bank has also issued a certificate of the amount in the cards.

I took this option thinking that it is easy to use the money and transfer it but don't know if it would be acceptable at the airport. ::) ::)

I don't think, pre-paid credit cards from INDIA are accepted as POF while landing.

Well you can always try this. Hopefully all will be well. Though it has worked for some before, but there is no guarantee it will be accepted now.

Would be better to ask CIC directly.

Thanks,

From the CIC website I can find the POF amount needed to support, but it says Number of family members. I am bit confused here. In my case I am a single applicant but I have totally 4 family members(Father , mother, brother , sister). Now under which category I fall, should i have to show POF for all my family members or only for me ?

your family members means your wife and kids, in your case you mentioned you are single so you will need PoF for yourself only.

Hi Friends,

I landed in April 2014 and I had to carry 21500 CAD.

I did my landing procedure in Toronto Airport

I carried CAD $16000 as Travelers checks,
CAD $5000 in travelers prepaid card from ICICI bank India
and CAD $700 in cash.

I got no problems.
Thanks

Hi Seniors

We will be landing to Canada by end of Sep 2014.

May we know what should be the option that we should take to show our POF in case the Immigration Officer asks for our POF?

1. Bring online bank statements showing our bank balances which are more than the amount published in CIC website and also bring some cash in CAD.

Will the Immigration Officer consider our online bank statements as POF?

2. Bring bank draft and cash in CAD which will be the same amount published in CIC website.

May we also ask if there is a need to open a bank account in Canada even before you first land in Canada in order to show the IO that you have the sufficient amount of money that is equivalent (either equal to or greater than the amount mentioned for the number of family members as Proof of Funds)?

Since, we may run into issues if we are to leave our home country and Canada if we bringing out and bringing in more than 10,000 CAD.

Greatly appreciate all your help. Thanks again.

Hi All,

Quick question:

Should funds be in Canadian Dollar only?
Is it acceptable to carry US Dollars as POF?
Both cash and cashier's check?

Ofcourse US dollars are acceptable. Many people choose to carry cash + draft cheque..the choice is yours.

Hi Dears,

Hope everyone is OK.

I'm single applicant & I'm intended to land in Canada soon.
Can I carry my entire POF in form of liquid cash? ( Will take around $12,000)

Your advices plz.

Tq.

There is a limit prescribed on Cash and TC by most countries.
RBI in India has a US$3K Cash limit to take out of the country in foreign currency
See : http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/FAQView.aspx?Id=53

From the Canadian standpoint, you can carry upto $10K in cash.
In the your case of $12K in cash you will have to declare on the form when you enter .
