Its an exchangeable currency...there is no reason not to accept it.

So how does this "Cashier's Check" work?... Can I draw cashier's check worth 16K Australian Dollars, without needing to convert it into Canadian dollars?

Is it acceptable by Immigration Officers at the Port of Entry?

And, when I return back to Australia, will I be able to simply cancel it and I incur no re-conversion charges, coz no money in reality took off from my Australian Dollar account?
Looks a bit dodgy to me!!

Hi Shalini,

A cashier's check is akin to a personal check, only that it is issued by bank and bears your name in print. It serves as a proof that you have funds in your account and will use them for your personal account elsewhere. You can of course cancel it in future.

Just FYI, it worked for me. I am posting my landing experience shortly. Hope that helps.

Do I need to carry some forex statement from my Australian bank showing the equivalent of AUD 10K into CAD?

My two cents:

a.) Fellow member 'Indian Applicant' answered your query already, but you in your wise judgement thought of asking the same question again, this time stressing your 'one week duration', as if DD in Indian Rupee will become acceptable if your stay is reduced to one week.
May be, if you can rephrase your question like this, 'I am planning to stay for just 1 day and return back. So can i carry DD in INR'. Then there is a possibility that the answer might become 'Yes'.. which is what you want to hear.

b.) Moreover, this question has been asked umpteen number of times and has been answered umpteen number of times. How hard is it to do a quick search?

Hope you are doing great, I am at last stages of my application. I am waiting for visa, I just wanted to know that is it compulsory to bring CAD $ 11,800 at the time of landing in Canada ? Can I bring less than CAD $ 10,000 say 5000 while landing in Canada. What happens if I don't have the required funds. I am PNP - MPNP applicant.
