Hello ,

For the first time , in the past 2-3 years I was able to see citizenship processing times reducing . As per CIC s August 1st update , the average processing time s now 24 months for routine applications. Previously it was always increasing , so a good sign.

That is much easier and faster for all applicants. However, it really depends on the decision makers (I think most of them are previous CIC call center agents) because some of them are really smart and knowledgable, and some of them have no clue about CIC laws

Being a call center agent is part of the duty sometimes. You need to be versatile. Also, all the guidelines are always posted for them in a booklet which they just have to follow. It's a distilled version of the law that covers 90% of all cases. I'm sure they will be able to handle it.

You can google it: cp05-eng.pdf - this is one of the documents they are provided.

in any work or profession if there is work load we work extra overtime and also sometimes on weekend. does cic does the same. ?

Processing time for routine applications has always been 24 months. Where do you see citizenship processing times reducing?

They have way too much power you can find out more from your mp. hopefully with the new "system" the processing times will be reduced for older applications therefore their claim on reducing backlogs.

When I applied, it was 12-14 months. Then later it was 16 and 18 months.

I came to Canada in 2011 and it was around 19 months at that time. Later it became 21, then 23 and finally 27 . I am not very sure when did it change but just yesterday I checked it and it was 24 months .The website was updated on 1st August.

ok i have been always told by cic agent a delay of 35months on the phone and still see 35 months on the website. but its good to be hopeful!

It is still the same.. it did not increase though.. with the faster processing times we are seeing around it should go down to under 20 by year end
