Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

They didnt return my husband our docs after his interview. I wonder why they return some ppls docs after interview and for others return with the visa :

Ours was handed back along with the Visa, yours might be the same. It is rare that they give it at the interview, but it does happen.

Thank you sl_chica. I got ppr. But do i really have to use vfs to submit the passport or i can go in person to the Canadian visa office and submit it. How many day it took u to get back ur passport?

Yes, you must use VFS. There is no other way around it.
When you get PPR, the visa is already issued, they use a secure service to obtain that sticker and paste on to the passport.
It takes only 2 days. However, you must hand the passport within 30 days of receiving PPR.

My dad have interview yesterday and he is March 2014 Applicant deport from Canada after 19 years leaving in Canada mom sponsored him now but

They told him he will get result within 2 weeks and they have returned the documents also
Has anyone experienced this as they went to interview and advised will let you know within 2 weeks? Please reply we are so worried

can you tell us the timeline? it is helpful to see what the process/progress is.
for example: Is the medical and police clearance current? when he do them? What was the interview like?
If the med and police clearance are expired, he should receive a renewal request usually within about 24-48 hours after the interview.

Give us more details to analyse the situation.

I don't know the exact time frame but

April 2014 submit the application
Sep 2014 file transfer
Oct 2014 they request for additional documents like
--- police report from 18 years old untill 2014 October
--- medical report
-- and some other documents
Feb 2016 request for update police report from oct 2014 untill feb 2016
Nov 23 2016 he had interview and told him
To bring all the original documents, money transfer , photos, contact invoices ...

It was Canadian lady interviewed him and said she will
Modify within 2 weeks

Questions were
1. Why he didn't have join bank account earlier with his spouse
2. What you will do if you do to Canada ?
3. Why did you go to Canada? With how many people? With which passport?
4. What did you do when the war happen? Did you help them?
5. If he ever had a problem with police in Canada and Sri Lanka?

He doesn't Member all the questions but these are the main one that's bothering him :-[

His police report is up to date but med have expired

Hopefully he was confident in answering all the questions. Did he have any indication from the interviewer if she was satisfied with his answers? As long as he was truthful it should be ok.

There are a couple signs to look out for to see "good" signs:
When did the meds expire? If they were expired for a while, he should receive the renewal request shortly.
If he does take it as a good sign. If they just expired, sometimes they do not ask for a renewal

Have you checked the online status? If the decision is positive, the status will remain "In Process" until passport request.

Visa cannot be denied on medical reasons for a spousal sponsorship. So get ready to see him soon.
