so my husband's meds are gonna be expiring very soon and we have no news yet. i'm getting really really worried.. literally on pins and needles.. everyday when i look at the calendar, i have this sinking feeling about the whole thing.. it really sucks actually..

Dont worry Mel, he will get visa before that for sure. Did you ask him to check with colombo?
Ask your friend how she approch this thing

Haven't asked her yet. Now she's staying with her friends for a few days apparently. it just puts me on edge a little bit u know..

i just want him to get the visa.. but then we have a whole bunch of ppl that applied before me but hasn't received the visa.. so there u go..

Mel, I dont think they are going by application received date. Some ppl who applied after us got visa alread ( i heard of it). So Why not give a try?
I thought ur friend came to join with her husband.....

Hay guys

My wife received her approval today and we have to hand in her passport on Monday. she has to land before the 12th of next month.there was no interview just a request to show a non refundable air line ticket for me. that's all.

Congrats gayan!!!!

Congrats Gayan. How long did it take for you? Do you know how long it takes for otheres? I applied in Oct and colombo received our app in Nov mid. We didnt get any info from colombo so far. I am just wondering to find out what is the average time now.

Watnxt, Gayan applied in August.. He had a few road blocks and got the visa 9 months later. It took them exactly 7 months from the time they received the documents in Colombo to process his visa.. :) (I know this because he shared his time line with me earlier :P )

Thank you Mel,
Did you get chance to update our chart? At least we have one person with got visa in that chart...
So colombo office will be open this monday? I thought it will be closed.
Not sure when we are going to get that kind of good news..

I really should modify the list.. hopefully by the end of the today i can get to it.

Colombo office was open on monday and they are also open on thursday.. so there u go..

wow someone seems to know more about me than i do....lol....melbell_28 :P. well guys i'm getting my things together i will get back to you guys when i get to Canada.

the only advice i have to Colombo applicants are to try and drop by the embassy once in awhile.you have to be there at around 6 am and inquires are taken up at 11:30 to 12:30 if you don't go in early you might not be able to get inside. some days there's a huge line up. :o

take care

Thank you Gayan,
Then I will ask my girl to check with Colombo next month. She checked with them last month so mid of next month could be good time frame.

Congrats Gayan. Wish you all the best.

Guys update on CIC website on processing times!!

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp

Follow above link for more info..

As per the CIC website, the processing time for sri lankan spousal applications is now 14 months. This information is based on average times as of the 27th of April 2011.

We were at 9 month and then followed by 17 months back in 2010. In 2011, as of the the last update in February on the CIC website, the time had come down to 16 month from it's previous 17 months in 2010.

Now we are down to 14 months!!

This is good news ppl!!!

Hope this makes the long weekend a little more pleasant!!

Cheers my darlings!

Mel :)
