Lead government-wide efforts to resettle 25,000 refugees from Syria in the coming months. As part of the Annual Immigration Levels Plan for 2016, bring forward a proposal to double the number of entry applications for parents and grandparents of immigrants to 10,000 a year. Give additional points under the Entry Express system to provide more opportunities for applicants who have Canadian siblings. Increase the maximum age for dependents to 22, from 19, to allow more Canadians to bring their children to Canada. Bring forward a proposal regarding permanent residency for new spouses entering Canada. Develop a plan to reduce application processing times for sponsorship, citizenship and other visas. Fully restore the Interim Federal Health Program that provides limited and temporary health benefits to refugees and refugee claimants. Establish an expert human rights panel to help you determine designated countries of origin, and provide a right to appeal refugee decisions for citizens from these countries. Modify the temporary foreign workers program to eliminate the $1,000 Labour Market Impact Assessment fee to hire caregivers and work with provinces and territories to develop a system of regulated companies to hire caregivers on behalf of families. Lead efforts to facilitate the temporary entry of low risk travelers, including business visitors, and lift the visa requirement for Mexico. Work with the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness to repeal provisions in the Citizenship Act that give the government the right to strip citizenship from dual nationals. Eliminate regulations that remove the credit given to international students for half of the time that they spend in Canada and regulations that require new citizens to sign a declaration that they intend to reside in Canada. - See more at: http://pm.gc.ca/eng/minister-immigration-refugees-and-citizenship-mandate-letter#sthash.wLVUhg9Z.dpuf

It is too early. Most probably we will see most of the things they have promised done right before the next federal elections.
They are still struggling to bring 25k refugees nevertheless that they explicitly promised that they will bring them at the end of last year.
Imagine that to expect about all the other promises since they couldn't manage to keep the most important one.

Only provisions in Bill C-24 targeted for imminent repeal are those which authorize the Minister to revoke the citizenship of dual nationals for specified criminal offence convictions. (Provisions which create so-called two-tiered citizenship.)

Other provisions in the Citizenship Act as adopted in the SCCA (Bill C-24) may be revised or removed in later legislative actions.

There is NO hint that Bill C-24 itself will be repealed, and virtually NO prospect of that happening at all.

THIS IS AMAZING !!! Trudeau is off to great start !!! Most politicians back away from their electoral campaign promises, not Trudeau. He's taking head on all the problems created and fabricated by a secretive right-wing conservative government.

I hope the faithful disciples of fear mongering, hate, anger and xenophobia are taking notes. This is a good opportunity for right-wing conservatives to learn how to govern.

instead of "Repealing C-24" the media should use the "The Liberals are planning to make small trimming of the Bill"

The main body of the Bill will stay the same.

This government has special affection and top priority for the refugees only while ignoring the current ones!
Economy is taking downturn, businesses closing down, loonie all time low, downsizing, unemployment etc.
I had come here under Harper government only under the federal program. Atleast some of the policies of the previous government were practical such as promises to commit number of refugees. I think present government is only interested to create new vote banks of future citizens while ignoring the present ones who in majority and supported to win.
I hope they get some sense... Charity begins at home!
