Hi everybody,

I am fairly new to this forum but I already have a question regarding the interview. Does everybody have to attend an interview at the immigration office before receiving their permanent residency card or is it possible that I might not have to attend an interview?

No, only little number of applicants are called for interview.

Dear friends,

Today I got mail from my VO:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

Subsection 15(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act states that an officer is authorized to proceed with an examination where a person makes an application to the officer in accordance with this Act.

Subsection 11(1) of the Act provides that a foreign national must, before entering Canada, apply to an officer for a visa or any other document required by the regulations. The visa or document shall be issued if, following an examination, the officer is satisfied that the foreign national is not inadmissible and meets the requirements of this Act. After carefully reviewing your application and supporting documents we have determined that an interview will be necessary to determine whether you are admissible to Canada and meet the requirements of the Act.

An interview has been scheduled on October 17, 2011 at 13:45 pm. Please note that your husband does not have to attend the interview.

If on your application you indicated that you have less than high proficiency in English or French, members of our local staff can provide interpretation in the local languages.

Please confirm, by mail, e-mail or fax, whether or not you are able to attend this interview. If we do not receive confirmation from you, we may assume that you are no longer interested in immigrating to Canada and that you wish to withdraw your application.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AT INTERVIEW

Please bring the documents marked by an "X" to the interview. Only original or certified true copies are acceptable. All documents must be translated into either English or French.

[ x ] Your original passport

[ x ] Your original work book plus other proof of your work experience

Your comment please......

Viktoria,

good to know that you got your Interview date fixed now.
But did you not submit your work experience papers with your full documents?

A workbook is a book, usually paperbound and expendable so that the user can write in it, with practice lessons on one or more skills or concepts.

The "work book" means the detail working procedures with illustration of your department. it must have spaces so that users can write their thoughts about each illustrations/procedures.

viktoria,
you are wrong in one point. According to CIC guideline an officer must not judge applicant's language skill by Interview. You are called for interview because VO is not satisfied with your work book/work exp. so, they want to get the clarification from u.

Viktoria,

but you have been asked to provide the work book during your Interview which is gonna take place in October 17, 2011. Why have you sent it 2 months ago? however, did you send the work book as I assumed it was?

Don't worry, they'll ask you about all your previous and current jobs and tasks you performed(ing).
They have doubts on those things. so be prepared to say accordingly as they ask you during the interview. as your English is concerned, I have always seen people stay more focused during such interviews and do well in understanding the person who takes the interviews. They know that English is not the regular language for you so its normal to make some mistakes.
