hello, I was wondering what options we have:
We have been away from Canada since 2009 and want to go back again. We became permanent residents in 2001. From the answers in the forum we have 2 options
1) enter Canada and hope not to get reported for not meeting the residency obligations. I f we do not get reported, we have to stay 2 years and apply for a new PR card
We have our SIN and Alberta Health cards. Will they still be valid? Especially the Alberta Health cards? Could we use them? Our son was born in Canada so he should not have a problem going to school and using his Alberta Health card right?
Would it be possible to buy a car and drive it with our German Drivers licence?
2) worst case szenario, we get reported and loose our status if we appeal: Can we still stay in Canada as visitors for 6 month? If yes is there a way to find a job quickly and try to get a work permit when entering Canada via the US at the Point of entry. Finding a job should not be a big problem for us. We still know a lot of people you should be able to help us with that when we are in Canada.
Could we register our son in school even if we loose our PR since he is Canadian citizen during the time as visitors?
