Dear all,
Prior I make my final move with the family to Canada, please I need your advice on the below:

I did my landing in October 2012 and stayed for 1 month only and came back to my home country. My plan was to find a job before I move for good. I took my PR in Dec 2012 valid till Dec 2017.
Now that I am close to sign a job offer with an IT company in Toronto, I just need to double check if I can I still go to Canada and be able to renew my PR after it expires (1-2 years) or it is too late for me to go!
Please advise so I can plan accordingly

N.B: After I move the days left in my PR to expire will be 1 year and 8 months only.

Thank you,

If you count from the date you landed (NOT from the date you got your PR card), will you meet the requirement of 730 days in Canada within 5 years of that date?

As a starting point forget about the PR Card validity dates. Between the date you landed which for ease of math we'll say is October 1, 2012 and October 1, 2017 (5 years) you must have or be able to have 730 days of physical presence in Canada to maintain your RO. If you can't then its an issue but only if it comes to the attention of CIC/CBSA. This attention comes each time you enter Canada or when you apply for a PR Card/PRTD or sponsorship. Your times seem to be at the margins - only you know how close this is so plan your re-entry accordingly.

Thank you for your reply Lammawitch...

Answering your question: When my PR will expire I will be meeting around 600 days only but I will stay in Canada for good. Will the CIC renew my PR after I reach 730 days? knowing that for 130 days I will be living in Canada with expired PR.

If you are able to enter Canada without getting reported for being in breach of the RO, then yes, you should let your PR card expire and not even consider renewing it until you meet the RO again. Keep in mind that they only look at a 5 year period so the days you spent right after your landing start moving outside the window of the past 5 years once you reach your 5 year PR anniversary. Days spent in Canada more than 5 years ago at the time you apply to renew will not be counted.

Thank you Msafiri, Leon for your kind reply...

One final Question: Once my PR expires and still having around 130 days to meet my RO. During this time, am I going to loose any benefits in the country? (Like health insurance, education, kids benefits...)
Thanks,

Thanks,

Please read carefully what other have said. Only PR card expires, the PR status does not expire. It can be only taken from you by CIC if they decide that you don't meet RO.

No, you will not lose any benefits but again, keep in mind that if some of your 600 days were earned straight away after your landing, once you reach your 5 years as a PR, these days will move outside the 5 year window and each day you stay you will only be making up for a lost day, not earning any new ones.

You can not apply for a PR renewal staying that you have 730 days in 5 years and 130 days period. It has to be a no more than 5 year period immediately before you apply and in that 5 year period, you must have at least 730 days in Canada.
