PR is stamped!! query on landing

Hi All,

I am happy to say that i have received my PR today. I applied for FSW in May 2013.

The date of expiration of visa is 15th Dec 2014. I know that i need to land in Canada before this stipulated date. My question is - if i want to immigrate next year and to just finish the landing formalities, could i just plan for a short trip, finish the formalities and come back?

Please clarify.

Pradeep, it is strong recommended that you wait to get your PR card first before going out of Canada again. However, if you have relatives in Canada, you can arrange for the PR card to be sent to their address and your relatives will just send you the PR card wherever you may be :)

Thanks for your response. So, in any case, i need to go and stay in Canada for a brief period? Even if i have my relatives in canada.

One week might be enough for you to apply for the necessary documents (SIN, healthcare etc). Then you can go back out. :) Congrats!
