Hey folks
Still no eCOPR for me but I have an update
AoR - July 22nd 2024
P1 - Oct 17th 2024
P2 - Oct 29th 2024

During P2 I confirmed that principal applicant (me) is inside Canada while dependent is outside Canada.
Today - Jan 28th 2025 - I received a letter in GCkey that asks the dependent to submit their passport for PR visa.
I still havent received eCOPR - but does this mean my eCOPR will trigger once passport is submitted?

I completed my PR portal process on January 9th and am waiting for my eCOPR. My outland dependent was asked to send their passport for visa stamping. However, once the passport reached Ottawa, they received an email stating that the visa couldn’t be processed until my eCOPR is approved.

A similar situation happened to my friend. Their eCOPR wasn’t processed for a month, and IRCC ended up returning their dependent’s passport without stamping the visa.

It seems like IRCC doesn’t know what they’re doing. They ask for the dependent’s passport to be submitted within 30 days but then delay the principal applicant’s eCOPR for months.

can anyone share if they're gone through something similar? how does the ecopr vs copr/pr visa thing work?
does one happen before the other?
Tell your spouse to send it. The difference is eCoPR is inland applicants and CoPR is for your spouse to use it in POE while entering Canada using the PR visa that'll be stamped in the passport! This may trigger them to issue you your eCoPR. Because the outland dependents cannot land until the principal applicant has landed!

Isnt this freaking ridiculous?
I have given them everything they need to issue ecopr since October 29th 2024.
Why the fuck are they working on dependent PR visa first rather than eCOPR?
So that they can slow that down again till eCOPR is issued?

Tbh, I have no clue how the fuck they work. But I would still take this as some sort of progress in your situation mate. Just tell your spouse to send it. Then you could raise a webform to let them know that you're still waiting for your eCoPR. Maybe that might expedite your case.

Send your spouse's documents for the PR visa. It looks like your eCOPR may come soon, as most October P2s are getting processed. In my case, I received an email from IRCC the day after my P2 asking to send the dependent’s passport.

Hi,

Is PR visa same as normal PR and there is no specific timeline that they need to enter in Canada.

Hi,

Is PR visa same as normal PR and there is no specific timeline that they need to enter in Canada.

It is mainly for outland applicants or outland dependents. This what was written in my letter.

"If you hold passport(s) from countries whose citizens need a visa to travel to Canada, you need your Permanent Resident Visa and it should be affixed in your passport, even if you already have a valid Canadian temporary resident visa"

After entering Canada, the process for the PR card can be initiated.

Thank you.
I have kept my file on hold from Dec 2nd till Jan 14 as I was outside Canada.
On 16Jan only my self received P2 as my dependent child is outside Canada and no plans to travel soon.
Can I expedite the process to send stamping for my child ? Based on the discussion here I understood it's a dependency for my eCOPR

Below are my time lines,

PNP non Express Entry.
My self main applicant, spouse and daughter we all three live in Canada. Sydney processing office.

When asked via MP, Below was the response
"According to my phone communication with IRCC today, your grouped application was approved on November 4, 2024 and the portal was successfully created on November 25, 2024. Currently, your virtual landing is awaiting the final decision by IRCC officer. As this is a grouped application, the average processing time does not apply. Please continue to wait."

P1 - Nov 18,
P2 - Nov 25, (submitted Nov 26)

waiting for eCOPR.

I would like to knowwhere should I check for this eCOPR.

You'll be notified via email and then it'll be ready for you to download from your PR portal!

For my dependent, it stated that the passport had to be sent within 30 days. Could you check if there is any deadline for submitting documents? Also, the PR visa for your dependent will only be stamped once your eCOPR is confirmed.
