Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar or can offer advice.

I recently received my PR Confirmation Portal email from IRCC, asking me to confirm details like my presence in Canada, address, and recent photo. However, I am currently outside Canada because I had to return to my home country due to urgent family reasons a few months ago.

My Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) expired while I was outside Canada (in June). Because of this, I informed IRCC (via the reply email they provided in the confirmation portal message) that I’m currently outside the country and intend to return by November 1, 2025 (I also let them know that I can advance my return if needed to comply with any PR application regulations)

It has now been over two weeks since I sent that reply, and I’ve not received any acknowledgment or response from IRCC. Not even an automated confirmation that they received my message.

Here are my main concerns:
  • Is it normal not to receive an acknowledgment when you reply to the PR confirmation email?
  • Could being outside Canada cause a delay or issue with the processing of the eCOPR or my PR activation?
  • At what point should I consider following up, and should I use the IRCC webform, call center, or some other method?
  • Is there any risk to my PR status if I’m not in Canada for several months after receiving the portal email?
Any advice, shared experience, or insight would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to avoid unnecessary panic but also don’t want to miss any deadlines or critical steps.

Thank you in advance for your help!
