PR card with one year validity

Dear Members,
I received PR card today with expiry date in one year only and am concerned on reason why it was not issued for 5 years instead. Getting worried if everything is ok.

May be your passport is valid only for one more year.

Thanks for your input.
My passport is valid till 2019. Dont understand why PR will be issued for 1 year till Oct-2017 only.

As you are a new PR, it looks like it was simply a mistake.

You can contact IRCC and be transferred to the PR card processing centre in Nova Scotia. They may be able to sort the issue out. Otherwise, you can contact your MP and ask them for help in sorting it out.
