PR Card renewal tax question

My pr card expired in April 2019, I am now putting together the application for renewal but I haven't filed taxes yet for 2017 and 2018, is it necessary to have these filed in order to renew my pr card? I'm in the process of filing them and they are close to being completed, but I have a family member who is terminally ill with cancer and would like to be able to be there for the family if I need to. Thanks in advance!

Somebody asked the same question yesterday and conclusion was taxes and PR card are not connected at all. PR card renewal is all about demonstrating physical presence in the country for the residency obligation not whether you filed taxes or were tax resident.
