Can anyone please advise on how to apply for PR card renewal for a minor?

Is it the same process as that of an adult?

It is same as an adult.
You do need to submit school record / attendance record, etc. for school going child.
Along with those you can also submit any statements you received for CCTB or/and from Child benefits from Provincial govt., etc showing that the child was present in Canada.
