PR but not staying in canada just yet

Hi all,

I need some assistance and not sure where to get the answers I need.

I have gained my PR visa and am planning on activating/landing in Canada in a few months however this is just a explorative trip and will only be in Canada for a few weeks before returning to the UK. I plan on registering my landing with immigration in order to satisfy the 1 year cut off I have.

I plan on returning next year for the final trip but not sure where I stand in terms of PR card and/or actually doing this.

Can anyone help and let me know if you have come across this situation before and shed any ideas light on the matter?
