Hello everyone!

I'm currently working in Ontario as a skilled worker (open work permit) and I plan on applying for Express Entry under Canadian Experience Class.

However, I am not interested anymore to work as an employee since I've started my own business.
I have a couple of months left to get a full year of working experience in Canada, can I resign exactly after one year and prepare/submit the application outside Canada whilst not being employed anymore?

In other words, will my resignation affect the application process (provided that I've worked exactly 1 year in Canada)?

I didn't find any other options for those who are starting a business on an open work permit to get the PR.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, as long as you have exactly one year or above. Best to try and get 13 months just to be on the safe side. Once you have the experience, you can apply from outside Canada.
