Hello,
I am applying my express entry application after receiving my ITA. After my work permit ended. I stayed in Canada for an additional year in Visitor record (from June 13, 2024 to June 04, 2025). I stayed because my company that I used to work with applied for my LMIA application and I waiting for that decision.
Whilst waiting, I started working for a company outside Canada remotely, whilst staying inside Canada.

My LMIA application was rejected on 30th May. I moved back to my home country after receiving rejection and I showed this experience that I gained working remotely for a company outside Canada in my EE application and it contributed points to my CRS.

I want to know, in the personal history section, while listing all events, for this remote experience in Canada, what do I put in the section “where did this activity take place?” Do I mention Canada or My home country?

So you were in Canada on VR but working full time for a year? So you filed taxes? Activity is in Canada.

I was and I currently am working for an Indian company remotely. I was present in Canada and working remotely from July 2024 till June 2025. I left canada on June 2025 and I’m back home and now I’m currently working remotely for the same Indian company from my home in India. I haven’t filed tax in Canada. I forgot that I’m supposed to include this income while in Canada

You cannot work in Canada as a visitor for a year. Are you counting this work because there will be issues with illegal work in Canada, leaving and not filing taxes.

Just wanted to confirm with you, this is a company with no affiliation to Canada in any way. It is a small registered company located in India and they do business locally in India. Even then am I not allowed to work?

You were in Canada on a visitor record. You didn't enter Canada as a visitor and could work remotely without a permit for up to 6 months. You cannot work indefinitely remotely. You would have filed taxes.

I have also paid taxes for this in India as it is an Indian registered company

So. You were working in Canada for a year on a VR with no work permit and didn't file Canadian taxes. Why didn't you go back and work in India? IRCC will know you were in Canada and working without a work permit for more than 6 months.

But this was a foreign company with zero presence in Canada. And my salary was not deposited in my Canadian bank account. I stayed back because, I was waiting for my LMIA decision. I even consulted with my lawyer regarding this previously to check if this can be done

Right. But you are a visitor and can cannot just work remotely without filing taxes if working for over 6 months. Look up CRA rules. This has to do with tax laws and IRCC find out that you didn't file in Canada and were not following VR/TRV rules. Your foreign income should be taxed. Ask a tax accountant.

I understand. I will speak with my tax person and figure things out and see what can be done now. Thank you!
