Hi everyone,

I've tried combing the site for the answer to my question, but I can't seem to find the thread.

Basically, I received my PPR today from Ottawa, to submit my passport to Detroit. I know Detroit offers the in person service on Tuesday and Thursday, and I want to be able to take advantage of that. The problem is I need a visa to travel to the US. Now if my understanding is correct, I can still submit my documents via someone who I have authorized to(in my case girlfriend/ relative) travel to Detroit on my behalf and get my COPR, is that correct?

I wanted to travel to Windsor, have my girlfriend crossover(she does not require a visa to the US) and get the documents for me, and then come back and then I'd be able to land. So firstly, is my understanding correct? Secondly, how would i delegate the authority to her? Just give her a letter saying I authorize her to submit it on my behalf? Or is there an actual form i have to fill out and send in to CPP Ottawa?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! This forum has been a great source of help, and I'll always be forever grateful for all who have assisted me in the last few months!

Surprised that Detroit responded so fast, I guess I'll answer my own question. Yes we can send a representative on our behalf, we just have to give them a letter indicating we grant them permission, and the representative must show their photo ID as well.

hey good post..

can we use a representative in Canada or US to mail the passport to Detroit? I can mail it from India but they wont mail the passport outside Canada. from the post i think we can use a representative.
