I recommend you to land first, cause till now VO has no objection regarding surname if they have then they will have already forward you to update your PP with surname, I think you will do fine without surname if Vo thinks you are capable then i think you will do fine in Canada job market also,
Warm regards,

U don't require to do anything now. During ur PPR ur IO will send u a form to file ur name, DOB, pps no. etc. [called the "update info sheet"]. That time, while writing ur name u should split it into a 'given name' & a 'last name'. Wherein ur COPR & PRVs will come accordingly.

If the IO doesn't send u that sheet, they'd 'split' ur name themselves for the foregoing. Usually they'd follow the way u've written ur name on the initial apps. If u didn't split it in the apps itself, the IO will do the needful. U don't need to worry about it.

Example:
If ur name is Johnny Depp. And u've written it as such 'only' under the given name or as such in the last name field... CIC will 'split' it themselves [if u haven't got the UIS; and couldn't do so urself] & issue ur COPR+PRV as "Johnny" in the given name & "Depp" in the last name.

Qorax,
How are you?

My wife does not have a surname on her passport, but Given name as 'firstname last name'. On her Canada VISA and COPR, they have printed Surname as 'First Name LastName' and GivenName as blank. I am the PA and have details right on my PP + COPR.

We are planning to land in Sept. Can we get the name of my wife corrected during landing for PR? I had filled name right on her forms. They messed up. Is there any issue due to above?

Thanks.

It's perfectly alright.
If her name is Angelina Jolie and her COPR+PRV bears that in the last name field [w/out being split] - her docs in Canada will contain just one name - "Angelina Jolie" - which is alright.

U may ask the BSO performing ur 'record of landing' to split them - but I'm not sure it could be done there... in any case it doesn't matter either... however, if u desire that - and the BSO hasn't acted on it - u may contact the CIC hotline once u have entered Canada.

Thanks so much Qorax...My wife was amused with 'Angelina Jolie' being used as an example :D

Hi!!!
My wifes passport was renewed and her whole name was printed under given name,no first name and no last name. While filing the application I had split the name but when we received the medical they had sent according to passport and so were COPR AND MEDICALS.I addresses the issue but was told they follow what is written in Passport.
