Hello all! Hope everyone’s having a great day

I’ve recently graduated from an undergrad program in a Canadian university and am planning on doing a Masters next year (Fall2024 intake). I was debating if I should apply for a PGWP now or wait until I’ve graduated from my Masters program to apply because I heard that the PGWP can only be applied once only, would applying after my masters program be feasible? For added context my study permit expires on 2026 so I believe I can work part time till then.

Thank you!

- Yes, you can only obtain a PGWP once.
- In order to be able to continue working without applying for a PGWP now, you need to be starting your new program within 150 days of completing your first program. The break between the program you just finished and the start of your Master's is too long to allow you to remain in Canada and work without applying for a PGWP.
- If you aren't starting your Masters until fall 2024 and want to be able to stay in Canada and work, then you would need to apply for a PGWP now.

Would add that if you are amt studying and not on approved leave your school is required to report that you aren’t a student to IRCC and your study permit should be cancelled so you won’t have a study permit until 2026 unless you are scheduled to start a new program within 150 days. When you get your LOA you should send a copy to IRCC via webform to indicate that you are continuing your studies in Canada. That should prevent the cancellation of your study permit.
