The public servants are just consuming the reputation of this country, brainwashed by the PSAC.

We came to Canada since we trust this country but the old generations are just so greeedy and kidnapping the country with such an ridiculous trick

Most of the applicants here came to Canada from a student and have moved forward step by step to survive until today. I don't understand why it took them a year or two to process our simple citizenship applications? Are we looking like terroists or they are just doing nothing on our case?

No parties no one could benefit from the ongoing strike, except for the PSAC president. Look when the president is showing up on TV everyday just like a Hollywood star, while he is earning at least $140k annual salary for this role. But look at your guys, just receiving $75 a day, even worse than a homeless who is begging for money on the street

I got my PR in 4-5 months (6 months regular) and involved significantly more admin than citizenship (medical, qualifications, work experience etc). So why am I approaching 2 years with LPP not started and not allocated to an officer?

Students and permanent residents? Sure, they bring in money, pay taxes and fuel the economy- without having any political voice.

There's a low political priority for new citizens. It's not about inefficiency as much as it is resource. And Where resources get allocated, is an entirely political choice.

What I've learned about Canadian politics, past and present, is that people don't like to upset the Apple cart. You're expected not to question and not have any (reasonable) expectations. Many new citizens, having gone through a needlessly traumatic ordeal getting citizenship- see it as a badge of honour- and those who got it quickly- are quick to shout down the majority of us who have to wait for a long time and are upset about it.

If it had been indigenous people on strike/protest with a long-due list of demands, we know how that would end (Trudeau called in the military when that happened last, labelling them as terrorists).

Canada specialises in Kafkaesque politics. And as mere PRs, we get no say in it whatsoever.

It is terrible that your application has been stuck in LPP for 2 years! I don't know the exact numbers, but the number of applicants who have been waiting for 2+ years is less, right?

I have seen applicants who applied on Paper in 2022 getting through the entire process in around 6 months. This also means that as long as someone doesn't have a complicated profile, that is as long as it takes to process an application from start to finish.

If they are allocating less resources to all citizenship applications, then all the applications should drag on for 2+ years. But that doesn't seem to be the case. Does it mean, it is just a set of officers who are lazy and drag the applications for years?

And if someone gets citizenship easily, won't they be impressed by the govt which was ruling during their citizenship application process and favour them during the upcoming elections?

I really wish we would keep this discussion objective and focussed on any updates on either the strike, or on the status of applicants' upcoming oath ceremonies (being cancelled or hopefully not).

I really wish people stopped saying what others should talk and not talk about in this thread. This is a public forum. And once again, strike doesn't only affect people who got their oath ceremonies postponed, it also affects people like me who has just submitted the application and also people like johnjkjk who has been waiting for a very long time.

So I simply pay my tax and processing fee then also support for their salary raise for their incompetence, sorry, this is Canada. Everyone has their voice and no one can stop it. This thread is about strike if I understand correctly. I feel more sorry for people who applied for EI. Who can feed them?
