You're not being impatient...They should be holding onto a passport for so long. Usually, when a passport if requested you expect it back within a month...suppose your husband current job requires to travel, then what.

You are doing the right thing by going in and in your case it is different since kids are involve...timeline or no timeline. They have the passport and it odd that they didn't reply to your recent request for an update.

It doesn't do any harm if the MP contact their office. Immigration counsels also contact the MP offices on behalf of their clients as well. Not to worry. I hope they call when you go in and also write a letter requesting them to speed things up for you...

All the best...My prayers are with you and the kids

Thanks for your kinds words. Just a little update... I went to my MP's office yesterday. Filled out some forms and was told that I would be contacted in a week with an update to know exactly what's going on and what the hold up is with the application and the passport. So now I await patiently.

I went to my MP's office. They contacted us back to let me know that hubby's BGC was still in process. Took about 10 days.

Some MPs are more helpful than others but IMHO even if they are not really helpful and just enquire it is enough for IRCC to know someone else is checking on it.

I did not get to see my MP, you are lucky, but I spoke to the Constituency Assistant.

Hope everyone gets updated soon.

Hey guys!
I also have another concern. I did not expect to get PPR this soon and had previously made travel plans for August, coincidentally with transit both ways through Toronto. I am not yet prepared for "landing" and furthermore cannot do it this time around, since my PR card would never be ready in time for me to enter Canada on my return journey. What I wanted to know is if they would cancel my TRV/visitor's visa once issuing the Immigrant visa when I submit my passport. I believe that entering the country as a visitor would help me get away from the complication. And perhaps I could complete my Landing at a later date. Does anyone have any advice on this?
Hi Trini.phar,

If you're transit in Toronto that is fine. You should explain this to CIC in the e-mail. I don't really understand your question? Why would you need a visitor visa if you're planning to get your PR, if you're issued the Visa for PR then the Visitor Visa is irrelevant. Do you mean if you submit the passport before your travel? You don't have to do your landing right away. You have up until your medical expires. When they issue your visa they will advise you on the deadline to do your landing.

That's Good I am happy to hear you went. I was talking to one of my friend who does immigration and I explained your situation to her. She mentioned in her years of doing immigration the passport is never kept for more than 5 weeks. So I am really happy you made the effort to go down to your MP office.

I hope you do hear something from there office soon.

Sorry I should've said "stop over" in toronto, because I'll be spending a week before my onward travel. I'm not sure if you're aware, but after becoming a landed immigrant, your PR card is necessary for boarding any commercial transport entering Canada (airline, bus, ship etc) for verification of ur status. Because my PR card is unlikely to be ready after 1 week, I will have no official travel document indicating my status for my return journey through toronto. And COPR is not accepted. I've read that you can apply for a PRTD (travel document) outside of Canada at Canadian embassies, but I will not be able to do so on this trip based on my itinerary and the location of the embassy. As such, I just wanted to know if after the issuance of your PR/immigrant visa, your visitors visa becomes void. If not I could delay my landing and enter as a visitor on this trip, and complete my landing later on.

Yes its quite strange!! However i am literally having a MINI PANIC ATTACK:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. I stopped checking ecas because it never updates and I checked it just now and it says DECISION MADE. I didn't receive an email or anything with regards to this decision whether it be good or bad. I haven't even received any update from the MP either and i'm not sure if the MP had anything to do with this. Should I wait this week and see if they contact me?

To update on my progress, I sent in my passport on the 10/07/2017 and a decision was made and passport being return on 14/07/2017. So it took about 4 days.
I'm surprised yours took 4 days, are you in trinidad? POS has my hubby's passport now for almost a month. If this week goes by and
he still doesnt get his passport back then I'll be going to the MP.

Awww thank you, I am already nervous. Application should be at the cpc mississauga by tomorrow, I just hope that we get approved, I've been told that family sponsorships especially those who have a child or children get processed quickly, hussy and I have been together for over 6.5 years, married for almost for years and our son will be 4 years in september, I hope all this will be taken into consideration. I'm really scared now
