Hello all,

I'm trying to sponsor my spouse to canada, do I need to submit police certificate? If so is everyone required to do so? When my friend sponsored his wife they only asked for biometrics. They asked me police certificate...should I be worried about that?

Sponsors do not need to submit a PCC. If IRCC has asked you for a PCC after the application has submitted, this means there is a criminality issue they need to verify. Do you have a past criminal record or charges?

Hi thanks for the reply and no criminal issue and I'm saying they asked my spouse who is the applicant but for my friend they just sent him a biometrics and eligibility email when he sponsored his wife. Do they not ask police certificate of every applicant?

All applicants require PCCs. Only exception would be someone who has exclusively lived in Canada from a young age.

Okay so my friend will also be getting the police certificate email then I guess. Also does eligibility email for the sponsor come after all that?

I know I'm just wondering if I missed anything. Like we both sponsored around same time so when he gets email he tells me. I haven't got any biometrics or eligibility yet thats why I'm asking

trust me, each case is viewed differently even if they do look similar,
depends on the officer handling the app
