Hello, I am applying for common law sponsorship. I am from Thailand but came to Canada for study since I'm 17. It's been 7 years that I am in Canada and only time that I went home for over 6 month is during Covid in 2021 (I was there for 9 months). After 2021 I've never leave Canada until now 2025. I found that it said if you reside in Canada you don't need to get police certificate but in the application it has (require) so i guess you need to put something there in order to submit.

Please help if I should get Police certificate from Thailand or not or just wait after submit the application if they ask for one.

Thank you

Hello. I am Thai. It does not hurt to get it. I had someone got it for me in Thailand while I was in Canada applying for PR, and they scanned it to me. There were no issues with the application.

Well I initially submitted the application on May 6 2024. The application was returned to me due to the missing pcc. I did not receive any early communication or query of the missing pcc. I would have to resubmit my application on June 14, which was treated as a new application, with a different application number.
My wife would have had her PR card handy by now If my initial application was not returned and I provided them the missing pcc upon request (which never came) as you mentioned.
It will not be returned but you will be asked to provide it before a certain time or your application will be assessed based on the fact you did not submit a pcc
Seems YMMV, so no right or wrong, only consequences.

Hi again, for the Birth Certificate. Did you translate to English version? Or attach the Thai Birth Certificate. If you did translate, Do you have any recommendations on where I can get it or who can help me. I am reside in Ontario Canada.

You will need an English translation, and when you apply, you also need to attach the original document (scanned one). I had mine translated by someone who is a member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) and she got the stamp and everything. Feel free to send me a direct message—I would be happy to share the contact details of the agency with you.
