Police Certificate

Hi,

I received a letter from CIC asking for IMM5669 schedule A Form, I submitted it, Now they send another letter asking for IMM5669 Schedule A Form again and Police certificate from Pakistan. I came to Canada 5 years ago and never went back. I have my police certificate from back home which I got when I was coming here, should I submit that or get a new police certificate from Pakistan consulate?

No, you don't need a new one from your home country, since you never went back.

You may need a new one depending on when it was issued...

If you got the police certificate from Pakistan after you left the country then it should suffice. However, if you got the certificate before you left, you will need a new one.

Where it says:

"have lived there in the past, the police certificate must be issued after you last lived in that country or territory." (emphasis mine)

So if the certificate was issued while you were still living in Pakistan i.e. on a date before you came to Canada, it is probably no longer valid and you will need to get a new one.

I called CIC Helpline they said the same thing, that`s why I was confused.

1. What is the issue date on the police certificate? Day/month/year
2. When did you leave Pakistan? Day/month/year

Yes, I have seen that seen link. I`m applying for new Police certificate through Pakistan consulate but the processing time is 3- 4 months and CIC gave me only one month to submit it. Can I submit the old one and tell them that as soon as I get the new one, I will submit that?

Police certificate issued on 12-10-2012.
I left Pakistan 27-04-2013.

You will have to inform IRCC that you have requested a new certificate. Get receipts or any application forms you can to show IRCC and they will likely extend the time you have in which to submit the certificates.

You definitely need a new police certificate. The issue date has to be after the day you left Pakistan. Uplod an explanation letter with proofs that you have already applied for the police certificate and you will most likely get an extension. I don't recommend includig the old certificate with that letter at all as it is pointless since the certificate is expired anway. Good luck!
