Just want to clarify this thing....

I am in Canada for almost 3 years now... Do I still need to get a police certificate here in Canada???? It says on instruction guide of FS "These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18."

I am confused coz my friends who are all in Canada submitted FS application to buffalo with police certificate from Canada. They said lawyer required them to get one.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

I have seen PMM or BobbyB answering a similar question
I dont think you need to get PCC for Canada.. But wait for seniors to answer

No cathy you don't need to submit a police clearance from canada unless the visa office ask you to do so :

"How to obtain a police certificate

Canada

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?

Only in certain cases. The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian police clearance once your application is being processed."

For the future, if the visa office ask you to submit a fingerprint based police certificate from within canada, proceed to the digital fingerprint not the manual (traditional)one because it is faster and will be submitted electronically to the RCMP and can be processed within 72 hours by the RCMP, while the traditional one takes up to 4 months. The digital is more expensive almost 65$ for the fingerprint and the traditional 25$ that is if you do it with a private fingerprint agency and it will not need an appointment in advance, if you want to do it in the police department which is responsible on fingerprint services you will have to take an appointment at least 2 weeks in advance and they don't have a digital fingerprint just the traditional which will have to be submitted to the RCPM by mail and takes up to 4 months to be processed by the RCMP.
