Ok, i was doing some research for where my wife in CostaRica can get her police certificate done. i saw this page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/central-south-amer/costa-rica.asp and it says To obtain this document, applicants should present a letter from the Canadian visa office. Which Canadian visa office are they talking about? please help! thanks!

Hi Gary,

I am Costa Rican too and in the process of applying for PR here in Canada (Inland application). Is your wife here or in Costa Rica? If she is here she can follow the instructions set out in the Costa Rican Embassy in Canada website for getting her Certificado de Antecedentes Penales. It is pretty staright forward and you do not need a letter from any office to apply. If she is in Costa Rica I believe she only needs to go to the Registro Judicial de la Corte in San José in person and request it.

I hope this helps.

As I understand the question, your wife is in Costa Rica, and needs a letter from the Canadian visa office to take to the local police (fuerza publica) to get a certificate. RIght?

If so, the Canadian embassy is located in Sabana sur, near the Costa Rica Tennis Club. Look up the address on the Internet. The Visa Office is on the second floor, but you won't get in; instead you go to the third floor and ask for what you need. You may have to go back a second or third time-- it's Costa Rica after all!

Suerte a ustedes. ;D

Thanks MexicaTica, and yes, my wife is in CostaRica, we are applying outland. Would you mind sending me your e-mail in private so we can communicate and maybe I can get help from you if I need it? Thanks!
