Hi,

I have been in Canada for 1.5 year with study permit. I just got married in Dec 2009 and plan to apply for PR outland through buffalo office in Mar.

I wonder if I should do police check in Canada even seem like I shouldn't do it unless CIC request me to do. I have seen some people said that in order to avoid slowing down the process, I should just do it as they probably request it since I have been here for 1.5 year already.

Can anyone give me the answer what should I do? And if I should do it, when is the right time to do it if I plan to send the application in Mar? What is the process here, will they give me the police certificate and I just attach to my document or they will send it directly to CIC?

Thank you so much :)

You do not need to provide the police certificate. They will request it if they need it. However, as you said, this will slow the process down. It's your judgment call. I would recommend sending it in with your application, as you can get it in a couple of days, so it won't delay the application.
