Hi all,

I got my ITA 2nd Nov, 2016. I am currently getting my documents and that of my husband together. However, I am in a fix. My husband was in UK between Oct 28 2008 to March 26, 2009. I am just wondering if we would need to get a police certificate from UK. I read on CIC that one requires police certificate if you stayed in a country for six months or more. I am afraid that 5 months and two days stay in UK might as well be interpreted as six months. My husband doesnt think we need to get one. I am scared of being rejected by CIC. His period of stay in UK is on his old passport. I am wondering if anyone can advise me on what to do. Thanks

Anything under 6 months do not require a PCC.

Just remember this though, let's say he stayed for 5 months and 28 days and then afterwards went on vacation to the UK for a week. This would amount to over 6 months and he would need a PCC.

Cheers :)

Count the number of days from date of arrival to date of departure.

If its less than 180 days, then no need for UK PCC otherwise you need it and missing PCC is straight rejection.

if i was you, i would play safe and provide it....

THIS

UK police checks are all done online and take about 10 days. Just get one.

Just remember for work experience they take only month into consideration. They might as well interpret this as 6 months. U K PCC is the easiest to get of all PCC and one can get in just 4 days to 7 Days. I would also play safe in this condition

as per other answers why risk getting rejected for something that is so easy to obtain with a guaranteed turnaround. You are obviously worried about how 6 months is interpreted so just get the certificate especially as the extra cost is relatively small in terms of the overall cost of getting PR. Even if you did not actually need it you can sleep at night knowing your application was as complete as it could be.
