Police certificate expiring soon

Hello everyone! Could you please give me some advice on my little problem.

It took us over a year to put our application together and every month we hope it will be sent this months but we didn't want to send an application that is not properly organised and does not address all the questions the officer might have. Now we finally got it all ready to go, except for my police certificate expiring on may 11th (date on it is 11 of february)

So my question is does it have to still be valid when it reaches Missasauga, or does have to be valid by the time the file is transfered to the processing visa office (Moscow in our case)?

It took me 2 month to get it because I am in Russia and need to get it from UK,and I really didn't expect I will have to do it again. Another two month of waiting will mean my other papers will expire too and my medical is already 4 month old ???

I would like to hear you opinion, if we should mail the application asap, or get new certificates just to be safe.

My understanding is that the PCC has to be 3 months valid at the time of application. Even if you don't send it at this earlier stage, CIC would let you know about the missing ( or expired) PCC once your application goes 'in process'. I didn't attached my PCC at the time of application but received email from the VO to furnish it with 3 months validity.

AM3's advice is not correct (or possibly is only not clearly expressed). The police certificate must be less that 3 months old at the time you apply. This is the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp You apply when your application is received at Mississauga. So you should apply as soon as possible: your police certificate was obtained only 2 months ago and so complies with CIC's requirements at present.
