Anyone having difficulties in Work Permit as-well? My Work Permit is stuck just because of O-PNP review. No AoR yet, so I can't apply for Bridge Work Permit. :-\

I have been waiting for my work permit extension since end August... till now still 'on hold'.

Is there anyone who did not received AOR yet and work permit is about to expire or has already expired?
I am freaking out over it. Although we have a letter from OPNP that requests 2 years of work permit extension for us, I highly doubt that would be considered after this ministry mess.

Please help me friends.

Mine will expire in June. I am going to give it a month or so. If I dont get AOR, might take IELTS and apply on some other stream as well for backup.

Here is what I learnt about about Work Permit extension from CIC:
You have to have either of the following to be able to apply for a work permit extension:
1.) PNP Certificate (LMIA exemption)
OR
2.) AOR
OR
3.) Job with a LMIA

I called CIC as well.

From what I gathered, PNP certificate might not work since it is expired by now and we do not have documentation (AOR) that we applied. PNP certificate(with the supporting letter that we got) works when you apply to get a work permit right away after getting the certificate. I believe it is meant for those who do not have a WP. Mine expired back in sep/oct. they will put us on hold waiting for AOR and we will be on implied status.

BOWP only works if you have an AOR as well.

Might be possible to get a closed work permit with a LMIA from current employer.

Ah well...at least I have another 5 months left.

@_MK_ does that mean that the only option that we have is to go through the LMIA route?
It has really high rejection rates for IT jobs in Toronto.

Wait for AOR.

We can apply for BOWP and be put on "Implied" status. That should be good if you already have a job. When does your WP expire?

It expires in May
I donot have much hope for AOR before that time.

Your PNP certificate has to be valid when you apply for a work permit / work permit renewal with it.

As my PNP certificate is due to expire (since my work permit process has been taking more than 4 months now), I have requested from Opportunities Ontario for an extension, but I have not got an answer as to whether it would be granted.

Hi all,

I got my MPNP nomination and my IELTS expired today, do i need to submit IELTS with PR application ?I am under NOC B, outside Canada. For PR application do need to just follow up document check list. Do i need to submit Proof of fund.? if yes, how much. and what about other documents like education and jobs.

I dont care about the 17 month period. All I want is an AOR so that I can get a BOWP and continue working.

QA is done. Crooks caught(hopefully). Now i really hope cic will be a fair, non-discriminatory institution and mitigate the disaster. I still have faith in them but not for long. No more excuses for the delay. Giving aor should not be a herculean task assuming they have already reviewed the files. I am from May 21st, when they stopped sending aor.

You don't need a BOWP to continue working. You can apply online for a work permit extension with the same employer.
