You don't need a BOWP to continue working. You can apply online for a work permit extension with the same employer.

I am currently under a PGWP which is an open work permit.
Closed work permit with the same employer will require a LMIA which is not very simple and not guaranteed.

BOWP is the only straight forward way.

I have been reading the comments on expiring wp and bowp. Just curious, for those whose wp is expiring; have any of you asked cic what can one do? They know about delay, QA, opnp screwup and they know that we know it too. They are certainly not ignorant of the repercussions as they have been running immigration for decades. Just a plain and simple question, no confusion.
What did cic say? Not opnp or cio; but cic.

QA is done. Crooks caught(hopefully). Now i really hope cic will be a fair, non-discriminatory institution and mitigate the disaster. I still have faith in them but not for long. No more excuses for the delay. Giving aor should not be a herculean task assuming they have already reviewed the files. I am from May 21st, when they stopped sending aor.

I think the QA will be an ongoing process. Either ways, QA process resulted in recommendations to improve the way they do things. It doesnt mean they have already implemented them....it might take them quite a long time to do it...government orgs always move at a slow pace.

I am just hoping they at least put us in the systems, it might very well take longer than 17 months, afterall that is the average not maximum time possible.

I did call CIC several times. Most of the call centre agents are oblivious to the situation. They know that QA is happening but they dont know what the agents are doing about it. I talked yesterday and the lady suggested to wait for another few months for AOR and then apply for BOWP...I do have another 5 months left.

Other options are to try and convince employer to get a LMIA and if that is positive, extend WP with that. Or apply under another stream (FSW, CEC, etc) and hope to get AOR before it expires.

Well we can only apply under ee for other streams. No other choice.
QA can be an ongoing process but opnp told they have to submit QA report by december. Besides ee will also take pnp stream, so they cannot put things on hold forever.

Did you get OPNP call? If yes then when? I didnt. My app reached may 23rd.
QA report was submitted. But recommendations could take months. Afterall they have to hire and train their employees, that doesnt happen overnight. It wont be on hold but it could be delayed. I am just speculating at this point based on what info is out there.

EE also needs a english test which is a hassle(~400$ and wait 2-3 months for booking and results).

I got my PNP certificate and I have applied to CIO Sydney office for the permanent residency on September, They have charged my card in October but I did not get any email or Medical exam. meanwhile I have to go back home for a while (3 months), is it possible to do medical exam in my country or I have to come back to Canada to do a Medical?

can anyone help me to know about this?

i did not get any call. but I have read comments from those who did. besides a close friend of mine told me in person that opnp said 8 weeks since October.

I can not trust what either OPNP or CIC is saying at this moment even if I try my best. They have said a lot and done absolutely nothing. I got the QA call on Nov 10 and I was asked the usual questions. The conversation was about 15 min long, however the person did not give me any time frame whatsoever re: AOR. I have seen some people wrote here that they were told they would get AOR in a month but I could not verify that with any reliable source.

I'm also tempted to apply under the ee stream but I would need a new police clearance from home as those clearances are valid only six months as far as I know also I'm not sure how long IELTS is valid. Plus we have already spent 2000+. I also don't know if we could apply under ee using our old pnp nomination.

PNP certificates are only valid for 6 months (at least in BC). So in your case using the old nomination for EE wouldn't be an option.

many times I tell myself, "stay positive, forget it" but deep down, I cannot ignore it.

do you think CIC cares what happens to us, that what if our work permit expires, I am almost sure they do not. they are just fooling us around. giving PR is a commitment, and they make maximum possible delay. otherwise as one said it is not a Herculeous job that takes 17 months (if not more).

that is why many qualified people move to US for better opportunities.
whenever things are in Canada GC playground, it will take such a long time and will cost a lot to come back.

I dont care about the 17 month period. All I want is an AOR so that I can get a BOWP and continue working.

I asked my employer if I can apply for BOWP without AOR using only my nomination (still valid for another 4 months). She emailed to the agency with this question (they seem professionals as per previous experience we went through using their help) and they said yes I can, just write a cover letter.

But reading this forum I am getting doubts again...
My wp will expire in the end of february... I applied for PR on december 8 2014..so dont even hope for file number and AOR in the nearest future.... :-X

any ideas?

if you have a valid visa to come back, then go. You can do the medical from anywhere as long as you select them from the list in CIC and every country has them.
