Hey folks,

I recently graduated with my masters and received a 3 year PGWP. I got selected for a full-time instructor position at a college, but the college requires all instructors to do a teaching for applied leaning certification course which is longer than 6 months. So I got a call from the HR lady asking me about a condition on my PGWP that states "Unless authorized, must not attend any educational Institution or take any academic , professional or vocational training course". Which means that I might not be able to complete that part time course without violating my work permit terms. She also asked me if I applied for my permit before June 7, 2023 (which I did not). Apparently there is an exemption for people who applied before that date. HR lady told me that this is a bit complicated and they are getting some legal opinion on this and will let me know.

I am curious to know if there is any way to make this work ? If the education/training is a part of my employment, is it still considered a violation of my work permit terms? This is a good job which would put an end to my lengthy job search and I feel really down because there is a chance of being denied of a job because of my PGWP conditions. But I don't want to break any terms since I have intention of seeking PR in the future.

Thank you for reading.
