Hi everyone,
I’m currently in Canada under a PGWP working as a software engineer. Recently I’ve been giving some thought to get a private pilot’s license as a hobby (I come from an aviation family and I want to have to ability to fly around every once in a while as a hobby).
I’ve been looking at enrolling in flight schools. The flight school website states that you do not need to be a Canadian citizen to pursue flight training because the course is “strictly recreational”.
The expected completion duration of the license is under 6 months however it is structured as a pay-as-you-go course. You pay hourly for each lesson meaning that it’s possible to finish it in 2 months but also 12 months depending on the pace you go at. It’s similar to a driving school in that regard where you can book hourly in-car lessons at your leisure.
Knowing the winter months are coming up that could affect the frequency at which I can fly, I might not be able to finish the course in 6 months due to weather delays and work.
Would this recreational pay-as-you go course violate anything with my PGWP. Would I have to stop at the 6 month mark if I haven’t completed my license?
Thanks!
