Hi everyone, so i just read instruction to apply for open work permit under common law inland application and i am holding PGWP expire in January 2016. Instruction guide mention that foreign worker only work maxium 4 years in canada and i have 3 years PGWP already so when i apply open work permit ,Does it mean i only get one year work permit while waiting for PR ? there are some exceptions but it is not likely in my situation . i am so worried right now , i dont think my application will be approved less than 2 years . thanks for anyone idea and comments in advance

Pgwp has an exception!! You can apply for work permit while your Inland application is processed..you meant January 2017 ?

it is not an extension of the PGWP, it is a whole new OWP based on the PR application so the maximum of the PGWP doesn't apply anymore in that situation
I am not sure about the dates though, the pilot program that this falls under said it was expiring in December of this year, maybe it is going to be automatically extended or replaced with something better?

The Pilot Program was put into place on Dec 22, 2014. It was extended for 2016 and based on the overwhelming success (and revenue), I suspect that it will continue to be renewed, until the Liberals make some sort of change to do what they said they would do: to give immediate PR to spouses and partners, which is NOT the same thing as removing Condition 51.
I just hope someone there realizes this.
