So I was invited in the 2020 program, but I was unable to apply because I didnt have the min income for 2018. So I didnt bother submitting an application. Based on what I have read above, do I qualify to be considered again or will the lottery be only for people who werent invited?
You wouldn’t qualify even if you were selected.

Oh is the qualifying criteria still the same that they require the 2018 income?
Yes. Income requirements will be for 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Elections are called for September 20th... whoever applied in 2020 pray you get picked this time, If Liberals loose this election (very possible) I am pretty sure the Conservative government would put a pause on PGP visa next year or put it on back burner just like what they did last time. This is my last time as well. I have been applying since 2016 and have had no luck. GLTA for this draw in September.

It's actually pretty unlikely the Liberals will lose based on polls. They called the election early because they think they can get a majority government. Polls are indicating they will win but likely don't have enough momentum to get a majority government and will end up with another minority government (like they have now).

Of course anything is possible, but I think fairly unlikely they will lose.

To be fair given the current state of LTC and healthcare in general there does need to be a discussion about the feasibility of the PGP program and at what levels. Most other countries don’t allow parent sponsorship with access to public healthcare. Australia for example has a similar immigration profile as Canada and doesn’t allow parent sponsorship with access to public healthcare. With the very high immigration target there is no way Canada can absorb even close to all the parents/grandparents. Think most immigrants would be better served knowing upfront that parents sponsorship may not be possible when deciding whether to immigrate. Many are under the impression that after 3 years they will be able to sponsor their parents and arrive in Canada with plans for their parents to arrive on a supervisa as soon as possible which will then covert to PR after 3 years their parents leave their home country with no plans to ever return home. After a certain point their extension is denied and they have no home to return to.

Is there anywhere to raise the concern to IRCC regarding not taking applications in 2021? Seems super unfair for applicants planning to apply in 2021 :(

You can try talking to your MP. That's really the only avenue. But to be brutally honest, they aren't going to do anything about it given an election was just called.

The announcement is already out. Nothing is going to change for this year. That's the reality. Focus your energy on next year.

If you didn’t qualify last year you wouldn’t qualify this year since they are using the same tax years.

Looks like you only very recently qualified for citizenship. How many years have you been working in Canada? If you just hit the 3 yr mark then it is very uncommon to get to sponsor your parents at this point.

Not really. If someone was in Canada previously on a work permit, pretty easy to qualify for parent sponsorship at this point if not earlier.

Still very rare to get selected after 3 years of LICO. If they didn’t apply last year they likely were not in Canada working for years.

Personally i think it's fairer to let people who have been applying for years to get their chance before people who are only now qualified. This is probably the most fair option I have seen so far for the lottery.

It looks they were trying to update the program but then the pandemic hit so assume they went back to the easiest way to process PGP. I assume there will an attempt to prioritize people who have spent the longest time in Canada/ worked the longest in Canada//applied to PGP the most times

Hello Guys,

Can you please help me here, I will really appreciate it. I got the biometrics request for my Parents Immigration on Friday but when I am not able to book their appointment using VFS India website. Its not allowing me to select the date. Is there something wrong or the VFS office is closed for biometrics? I am trying to book the appointment from Toronto.

Any help w
