Hi all Experts,

I need your opinion here as a matter of urgency. I a Canadian PR which is going to expire n October 2018. I work as a Petroleum engineer, and I had to move to the company to Australia and I am an Australian Citizen now.

Due to the Oil prices collapse I was not able to go to Canada at all, or find a Job. I don't want to lose my PR card, I think I might have a chance to move to Canada next year. But my question is here. If I am in Canada, and I have only less than 1 year in Canada before October 2018, shall I be able to retain my PR card.

Also, If I am in Canada, could I just stay inside the country past the expiry date ( October 2018) and wait till let's say October 2019, until I manage to renew my PR Card again for another Period of 5 years .

Please Advise

My best regards

How long you have lived in Canada since the issue of the PR card?

Just 2 months, and went back to Australia, I still have till October 2018 on the PR Card before it expires.

In that case you would need to return to Canada and live here for two years straight before you can apply to renew your PR card. Yes - you can remain in Canada past the validity of your current PR card.
