Passport Request, is it only for approved visa?

Hi everybody, I am a little bit confused about passport requests. When the IO requests for passport does that mean that it is already approved and we should celebrate or is this the time when we should be praying our hardest because they might deny it? I am just wondering...

I think it depends on the visa office. I am dealing with delhi and i can only speak about that office and our case. THey ask for your passport after they have opened your file in delhi. It doesnt mean that you are guaranteed a visa. Some people get called for interview and depending on the information given at the interview if they are accepted or not. Some dont have to have an interview. In my case my husband was requested his passport which is normal, they asked for interview and they rejected us. So we appealed and won and now we have been asked for his passport again. but this time its all been approved and just waiting for the return of the passport.

genuine relationship plus we had a very unpleasant VI. When I did the appeal they said to me that there was no reason for us to be denied.

Chances are very less for rejection once the passport is requested, but you never know what issues can arise.

With delhi is standard practice to ask for passport early in the process.

With some other Visa offices such as CHC-London they don't request your passport until you are at the end of the process! My file was opened 15 July and decision made 22nd August, PPR was 26th August, Visa Issue date is 26th August and I landed on 29 Sept.. So each visa office is different...

We are applying through Singapore, they started processing us on August 31st, but we still haven't gotten our AOR yet, we just saw it on E-CAS. We still have quite a long wait until they request for the passport anyhow. Congrats on your recent landing! How are you adapting?
