Hi guys,my status just changed to in process, may I know how many days it normally takes to get a open since in process? Also I'm planning to leave my country to Canada on early Oct, I think that will be big chance that I won't hv my passport back n it's still on cic.what can I do?can I ask cic to extend the date to take my passport or cabinet ask them to make sure my passport will b on my hand before late sept? many thanks

to know what the trend is for your visa office, ask this question in the THREAD SPECIFIC TO YOUR VISA OFFICE.

I'm sure it's possible to "request" such things, because no one is stopping you from trying. Though I HIGHLY doubt the visa office is going to comply to your request and will just ignore it. Visa offices generally don't fast track applications because of previous travel plans. Also, asking them to delay it so you can travel to canada is just silly. At that point you are risking your application getting canceled or being put it on the bottom of the pile. Personally i wouldn't mess with it, and just follow the procedure as it is presented to you. If it's normal for your visa office to take 4-8+ weeks to return the passport with the visa in it, more likely than not, you will need to change your travel plans to accomodate that "trend".
