Passport application for son born outside canada

Yesterday, we received our son's Canadian citizenship certificate. He is 1 year-old (Mashallah) and was born in Pakistan. What's the next step for us, how do we apply for a passport?
Any idea how long it would take from date of application to actually receiving the passport?
We got the citizenship certificate after 11 months of applying.

Assuming you are in Pakistan, submit the app to the Islamabad office.

In the child passport application form, they say if you don't want the place of the birth of the child to appear on the passport use an XYZ form. Is it possible for us to omit the place of birth of the child from the canadian passport?

I think thats a bad idea. As they advice on Passport Canada, a passport without a place of birth leads to inconvenience when applying for visas to various countries and also while entering and crossing immigration points.
