my timeline is like this
my sis applied in aug 2007
cic asked for documents on jan 2011(took like 40 months)...we submitted in same month
cic asked for updated educational documents of dependent children+medicals+passports in dec 2011 ..i submitted in jan 2012..
now am waiting for visa..i dont think they will request additional documents from me..

i wonder why they requested additional documents from so many people here..i guess you guys didnt send complete documents the first time..

If you would have sent all your documents together at once. It would not take this long.
My uncle received a letter from CiC-M. It took 1 month from pakistan to canada. Just for a letter.
It had to be signed. Now imagine everytime if ur additional documents are needed they will put your file aside. So more processing time

No. My parent received MR+RPRF and police clearance request back in June'11 but no PPR. I think only New Delhi office requests PP at the same time of medical.

I have sent addition docs on Dec 5th and as of yesterday, it does not show in their system. It is making me really worried. I hope Canada post delivered to the right address. I have the tracking # and it says delivered in Mississauga.

they asked for *updated* educational documents(regular certificates etc)+medical+passports+police enquiry etc..
they ask for it because the dependent children should still be studying and depend on parents(specially if the dependent child was of 22 years old when u file the case)..if they are not studying and doing some work then it means they are set in india and chances are the application will be rejected if the children is not studying regularly...

Hello everyone. There is this important poll at CBC (http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/10/question-of-the-day-464.html).

I request everyone to vote NO at the CBC website link provided above. The poll question is, "Should Canada limit the number of parents and grandparents that it allows to immigrate?" Just vote NO if you want to sponser your parents in future and have them immigrate to Canada!

Minister Jason Kenney wants to stop the Parents and Grandparents stream of the Family Class Immigration program, or put limits (caps) on the number of applications CIC accepts. Just like the limits of the Federal Skilled Worker program and the moratorium (stoppage) of the Investors program. So just vote NO and rate the comments by clicking on the "Thumbs Up" or "Thumbs Down" button. Some of the comments posted on the CBC website are full of hate, anger and mis-information against immigrant parents and grandparents. You can also leave your own comments to clarify the matter and show them your point of view.

So please, everyone, visit http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/inside-politics-blog/2011/10/question-of-the-day-464.html vote NO and rate the bad comments "Thumbs Down". Do it for your parents' and grandparents' sake.

Congrats veeru 41!
Does anyone know how long it takes once the file is transferred to New delhi under the 'new' system? Has the processing times changed for the home country visa office or this new process is only limited to being approved as a sponsorer in canada?

i think there is no info about how long the process will take in local embassy under the new rules yet... but i know a person whose parents sponsorship application was approved in October 2011 and they got medical forms from the local embassy in December 2011... of course it depends on the local embassy - but i have a feeling that the locals will start processing applications as soon as they receive it - not sitting on them for 1-2 years before looking at them as they did before... but it's too early to tell for sure...
