I Called CIC to tell them my situation. The agent was quite helpful and told me that they have started working on my application and I should receive a letter or e-mail soon.

Thanks Snspring! I can only confirm that once I get a formal reply from CIC. I will provide an update once I hear anything.

Hi user828
my understanding is that if you are asking for information NOT about yourself then it has to be under Access to Information Act (not privacy act)...
and in section B you need to add file number or UCI and select something - probably 'Electronic files'

But which on should I ask for? I want to know what was the deciding factor that took my sponsorship approval to New Delhi ( or simply what transpired during the file journey so far )

My personal belief is that one would not get any information (as to why a particular file was sent to a given VO) from the sponsorship stage. This stage is only to determine if you are eligible to sponsor. Notes, if any, would be found on the Applicant's file (not sponsors), like what info needs to be checked etc. For that we would need to use the "Access to Information" part of the request.

not sure you can get the answer to what was the deciding factor that took your sponsorship application to New Delhi... i don't see any explanation why my case was forwarded to CPP-O in my FOSS/CAIPS notes...

not sure if this answer is relevent... if they think that your case requires local knowledge then it will be very hard to prove that your case does not require local knowledge... they dont' have to process it in CPP-O... processing it in your local office is the standard way of processiong parent sponsorship files...

in the notes you can see the status, what is currently going on with the application (medicals, security, criminality, etc), did they receive your medicals, pcc, etc... did they send you any communication that you've missed... you can get a copy of the medicals...

it might help you to get some understanding of what's going on... but will not give you much information...

I think thats what I need, I know I wouldnt see why the file went to ND, my curiosity was more to do with comments? if any

Hi,
While filling applicaiton should we leave last address field blank or fill in current month.

For example, I'm going to fill my addresses for the last 10 years. For my current address should i mention to YY/MM (2012/04) or leave it balnk? What you guys did.

Thanks.

Ok, finally some update. I have dependent brother in my case along with parents.

Logged in eCas today and now there are 2 lines with Application Received. I guess they started working on the file. :)

A quick question to those who can access ecas through their parents file # or UCI (especially those from local VO but others too):

When I log in with my parent's file number (i.e. their permanent residence application file), I see my father's name (principal applicant and the status Application received (underlined).
When I click on it I see the message "We received your application for permanent residence on December 25, 2007"

(i.e. this is a date that is close to the date when I submitted my sponsorship application).

Is that how it is supposed to be - the date I mean? Seems confusing as we only submitted the 'permanent residence' applications as part of the 90 day request package recently (not back in 2007).

Is the date they receive the file from Mississauga to local VO going to be reflected anywhere in the status eventually?

I think nothing to worry... CIC requests more tests when they wanted to have more clarification regarding applicant's medical results/history. I hope everything will be fine and wish you good luck.

Btw: Are you a representative for your parents, since you received the letter I assume so. If you don't have a representative, would CIC send this to sponsor?

Thanks sponsorparents,
I hope this does not delay my file a lot.
I am not representative of my parents but in the forms (additional documents) I put my address, tel and email for CIC to contact.

Its the same for us, I think the part where it says your sp'ship was approved and we sent u a letter ( with a date ) is proof of trasnfer
