Who would you like to sponsor? (required)
My own parents and grandparents
x My spouse or partners’ parents and grandparents

If you are selected to apply, you can only sponsor your own parents and grandparents. You can’t use your invitation to become a co-signer for your spouse or partner’s parents and grandparents. Find out more.

If you select my spouse or partners' parents and grandparents, you will get the above message.
So only 1 lottery entry for you and 1 for your wife and for your own/her own parents only.
Thanks Buddy!! you are correct. one spot for my parents (submitted by me) and another spot for my wife's parents (submitted by her)

Hi,
I have the following question.
I have just started working from May 2017 and earn >85K/yr and my spouse has been working since 2015 and has earned >70K/yr. My spouse will co-sign, will this meet the income requirement for my parents?

Thank you in advance.

The application isn't updated yet. Its unlikely to be updated until later in the month or possibly even till after the draw. The application forms at the moment are in relation to the 2017 PGP draw.

Once you go into the Online Submission, thats where it shows 2015,2016,2017.

Cool. I saw it now.

Sadly. I'm off $1,128 in 2015 income.

Should I still apply?

TIA

As long as he is also a PR/citizen, he can be your co-signer if you're common-law. It's not like you are sponsoring him so proof of common-law evidence would be minimal. The Stat Declaration of common-law form is required, and a few joint accounts should be enough.

On a side note, have you both changed your tax status to common-law? If you didn't and are still filing taxes as single, then you would both be committing tax fraud.
thanks for the reply. actually, 2016 is the only NOA we had for now! we want to do it for 2017 which is due until March or April! ould that be an issue?

Hello and happy new year everyone,

My spouse and I are planning to sponsor my mom + his parents (total: 5 persons). But not sure if we're able to do this.
Both of our combined income made us eligible/met the requirement to sponsor 5 persons for 2015, 2016 & 2017 taxation years.

But the form says that "If you are selected to apply, you can only sponsor your own parents and grandparents. You can’t use your invitation to become a co-signer for your spouse or partner’s parents and grandparents." so we basically will need to submit our own application separately?

- I will submit an interest to apply for 3 persons (myself, spouse & my mom) - I don't need a co-sign
- He will submit an interest to apply for 4 persons (himself, me, his mom & his dad) - He will need me to co-sign his application to meet the minimum income for 4 persons.

Am I able to co-sign his application? As we met the minimum income requirement if we combine our income together.

Really appreciate your advise. Thank you.

If I apply for both of my parents, what would be the number of people that I should put you would be responsible for? Is it 2 or 3 including myself?

Your joint income needs to meet the minimum requirements for 5 people for 2015, 2016 and 2017. Does your joint income meet this requirement?

both of you will need to show income for 2 (you and him) plus 4 (2 sets of parents) on both forms. So you and him both need to show income for 6 (assume no kids or brothers and sisters)

If you have no spouse or kid, then it's 3 including yourself.
Thanks, it's 4 then including my spouse.
If both of us want to invite both of our parents (2+2+2), do we need to apply separately or one single application?

Must apply separately.

in the form, I would put

2. How many family members are currently in your family unit? (required)
  • any other person you and your co-signer may have sponsored in the past for whom you are still financially responsible

enter 4(2+2)

3. Tell us the number of persons you want to sponsor and their family members. (required)
enter 2

You and your wife will submit separately but use same family size 6 when applying.
