Hi guys, hope I can find someone that can help me here.

I have an open work visa and have been working here in Montreal for the last 1.5 year, while my wife studies. I got accepted into a university for a masters program starting on September 8, around the same date when my wife will be giving birth. My original work permit is valid until 2017 but I will have to 'change conditions' in order to get a study permit.

Ok, now my questions, please feel free to answer any that you feel able to:

1 - When does my work permit expire if I apply for a student permit?
2 - Can I still apply for parental leave if my student permit is already emitted ?
3 - Can I still receive the benefits of the parental leave after changing the condition of my permit ?
4 - If I'm working 20 hours per week ( as allowed with a study permit ) can I still apply for parental leave ?
5 - Anything else I'm missing about this situation ?

Thank you.

I'll help with one question. If you work while on parental leave, everything you earn will be deducted dollar for dollar from the paternal benefits you are receiving.

Hi, thanks for replying, sorry if it was confusing.
I didn't mean to say that I will be earning money and taking the parental leave.
I'm just curious if I can still apply if my work journey is 20 h/w instead of 40 h/w and how will that change the benefit since I have worked 40h/w for the last 2 years.
