I have just graduated high-school in Canada and have been accepted to university, I managed to renew my study permit but because of the difficult nature of my school year did not manage to apply for my visa and I overstayed for 9 months with only having a study permit. I also made the mistake of exiting the country after my graduation and I am now trying to reapply. Is there any advice anyone on this forum can provide because this was not a purposeful offence.

You dont need Visa to stay in country. Its only for entry. I didnt renew my TRV for 4 years.
No. As you have left Canada and your visa is expried. Just apply for one. Since you have Valid Study permit. It should be fairly quick.
I know someone who left Canada and applied from home country (Pakistan) took him 15 days to get his TRV.

You said you have already renewed your permit. Anyhow don't matter. As long as you have valid study permit during your stay in Canada, you didn't overstay or anything illegal.
